I have always felt excited about + appreciated the thought of a fresh start to the year. It’s great to have a date + time that can serve as a starting point for your goals.

In my role as the Director of Event Operations, the New Year is a time to evaluate all of our processes at The Event Company + solidify the plan for the events we have coming up in the year. We spend time reviewing our project management system to make sure it is serving us the best it can, researching trends + new design items that we can implement + planning our team building retreats for the year. All of these are important steps to help us feel organized for the year ahead + ensure that we’re setting ourselves up for success. It can be stressful with some of the additional work, but I know that it will pay dividends throughout the year if we take time to plan.

NEW EVENTS + CITIES

This year, we have a few new events that our team is really excited about! New events push us to try many new things, which I always appreciate. In addition to new events, we have events scheduled in markets that are new to The Event Company. Because working in a new city means researching, working with local vendors, building menus, etc. these opportunities allow the team to truly immerse into the local flavor of the city. We’re looking forward to taking what we learn in those places + bringing it back home to Sioux Falls!

LOOKING AHEAD

This will be a year where we continue to build up the foundation of our team + the processes that comes with it. Since The Event Company has grown so quickly in the last three years + the event industry can move equally as fast, we are doing everything we can to stay on top of the processes needed to keep our team successful. To do that, we are focusing on some enhanced plans for additional continuing education + research opportunities for team members. This will allow us to grow + adapt as the industry does, so we can continue to offer new + innovating ideas for our clients.
