The Blue Ball: A Food + Film Festival was a non-profit fundraiser event, hosted by Let Me Be 83. Let Me Be 83’s mission is to advocate for an alternative diabetes management regimen, anchored in nutrition and the proper use of insulins, allowing people with diabetes to achieve healthy blood glucose levels. Sticking with the theme, guests dressed in their very best blues, accessorized with big blue boas and sipped on fizzy blue cocktails throughout the evening. All of this in the spirit of helping to raise funds for an amazing cause.
With their bidder paddles in one hand and “The Blue Balls on the Rocks” signature cocktail in the other, guests were urged to sip and sample some of the delicious, and nutritious, interactive food stations. The menu included Let Me Be 83’s take on a mashed potato bar, coined the “Faux-tato Bar,” and the “Ball Bar” comprised of several different meatball variations and complimentary sauces. We can’t forget the delicious Triple Chocolate Layer Mousse Cake, inspired by one of Carolyn Ketchum’s recipes, that allowed guests to have a very “happy ending.” The food at this event was nothing short of amazing! One of the most exciting portions of the event was the debut of Madness: The Cost of Carbs, a documentary highlighting the struggles newly diagnosed families face before adapting to a low carb lifestyle. Rounding out this incredible event was The Blue Ball After Dark Dance Party. Now, we only wish that every event could end with such flair and fun!
