Fall has always been my favorite season because of its beauty, warmth + a celebration of the changing of the colors all around you. From University of South Dakota football games with my family (Go Yotes!) to long walks on crisp mornings with my dog, Ruby, there is always something to admire outdoors during this season. Sunday baking is also another favorite with my boys + I don’t know what it is, but baking just seems just so much better in the fall with the scents of pumpkin, cinnamon + roasted pecans filling the air. It’s comforting + life just seems to slow down. This season has a true special place in my heart.

After the hustle + bustle of busy summer travel, fall invites a much-needed time to slow down. As someone who spends any free moment basking outdoors in the warmer months, I embrace the cooler temperatures by spending more time indoors. To do this the right way, you must make your home as cozy as possible. (It’s in the fall rulebook, look it up)! My favorite thing about the fall time are the scents associated with this time of year + I fill my home up with all of them. The aroma of cinnamon-scented broomsticks, apple-scented wall plugins + pumpkin candles come together when you open my front door. You know fall is officially here when I get my heavier throw blankets out of storage, put on my Ugg boots + my fiancé adds a vest to every outfit. (Every. Outfit. Help.)

Fall is such a special time because it signifies the end of the year is approaching + all of my favorite things are coming soon! The trees change color, the air gets cooler, the food gets warmer + everything gets cozier. What’s not to love? Growing up, I always knew fall was here when we would take our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, pick the perfect one + then sit down with my dad to plan out our carvings. We would help him for weeks etch away at our drawings until they came to life + got put on display for Halloween night.

My absolute favorite thing about fall is the weather! I thrive in the crisp 60-70 degree weather. I am naturally a WARM girlie so the fall weather is perfect to me. My bonus daughter, Everly, my husband + I try to take family photos to line up with the perfect weather, Everly’s birthday + now our wedding anniversary! Fall fashion + color palette is also a plus. I love being able to wear sweaters + boots + cardigans + scarves!

Fall baking is one of my favorite things! There is something about the cooler weather that just sets the mood for it. The flavors of fall are just perfect for experimenting with new ideas + I love getting to share them with all of my friends and family!

My favorite thing about fall is the crisp-ness that comes in the air + the coziness it brings. There is something about opening the screen door on a Sunday afternoon, lighting a pumpkin or apple-scented candle + watching football snuggled up in a cozy blanket. It’s just the perfect weather + so refreshing after an always busy summer!

In this season of life (motherhood), I love everything that comes with back-to-school in the fall. My family is busy with soccer, dance, church + school activities. I love watching my two daughters do things they enjoy + interact with their friends. On the weekends, we are enjoying fall festivals, playing outside, picking apples + the girls can’t wait to decorate pumpkins! Picking out Halloween costumes is always a big deal in our house, too! This year, we will be trick-or-treating with a wolf + a super kitty!

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, but what I love most is the fashion! It’s the perfect time of year to experiment with layers, textures + cozy pieces. The trends I have my eye on this fall are rich reds, gingham print + chocolate browns. You can bet I’ll be putting all of those styles to the test! I love how fall outfits can be both bold and functional. They’re perfect for everything from cheering on the sidelines to church to lunch dates with my girls.

As a vegetarian who loves cooking, one of my favorite ways to celebrate the fall season is by exploring new + creative ways to use seasonal produce like squash, pumpkin, kale, apples, + pomegranates. From cozy soups + fresh salads to comfort pasta dishes + homemade pies — fall flavors never disappoint! One of my recent favorites is a kale caesar salad with roasted delicata squash croutons + a maple nutmeg caesar dressing, which I first made for Thanksgiving last year.
