The Civics & History Summit is a unique event tailored for South Dakota educators. Attendees were immersed in captivating keynotes, interactive exhibits, a vendor showcase, + breakout sessions crafted to align with educators' curriculum needs. Each session was dedicated to providing valuable content, resources, activities, + lesson plans that educators can integrate into their classrooms.

In July of 2024, educators from grades K-12 embarked on a journey to explore the rich + diverse history of South Dakota. The Western, Central, + Eastern routes lead them to key locations + attractions that play a significant role in the state's history. At each stop, educators delved deep into the lives of those who shaped South Dakota's past + continue to impact its present. Regional experts were present to offer valuable content, resources, activities, + location-specific lesson plans for educators to seamlessly integrate into their classroom curriculum. On the fourth day of the Road Trip, educators focused on collaborative efforts with fellow Road Trip participants, refining ideas + lesson plans to infuse the study of civics, history, + geography into their daily teaching practices.

South Dakota's Statewide Mentoring Program recognizes the important role mentors can play in retaining teachers in the profession. Mentors play a vital role in the teaching profession, offering guidance, support, + expertise that enhance the growth + development of educators. The Summer Mentoring Academy, hosted in Sioux Falls + Rapid City, was a celebration of the mentoring program coming to a close for the year.
